These Coca-Cola bottles were created for the Beijing Olympics 2008. The concept originates from a fusion of cultures and ideas where West meets East.
Each of the eight bottles has its own 'theme' and were designed by 8 Chinese artists with eight music producers (from the super-cool Ultra Records label) creating an exclusive track to match each of those bottles. For example, one of the bottles is called "Global Harmony" designed by Chinese graphic artist Xiao Xue with a track also called "Global Harmony" written by DJ Tiësto. This individual bottle was only available for purchase in Brazil.
The bottles were actually available to buy, but only in specific territories - you could only buy all of them in either USA or China. This pack for sale was a special marketing tool and have never had cola inside them.
This is a stunning set of eight bottles in their original box and packaging (the packaging also acts as a stand for the bottles, so creates a nice display), along with the fold-out poster, CD and bookle
Aluminum container manufacturer takes top award at New York City eventEXAL CORPORATION WINS BUSINESS AWARD FOR “BEST PACKAGE DESIGN”
(Youngstown, OH) Exal Corporation, the world-leading manufacturer of extruded aluminum packaging, has earned top honors at the 2009 International Business Awards in the category of Best Package Design. Exal was presented with a Stevie® Award during ceremonies in New York City on September 14, 2009 for its evolutionary full-body shaped aluminum bottles created for Coca-Cola's Beijing WE8 Olympic program.
The project title WE8 draws from the idea of an artistic collaboration of West and East around eight themes (the number eight is considered lucky in China) from the "Coke Side of Life" platform. To recognize the world meeting for Beijing 2008, Coca-Cola invited artists to depict the meaning of the occasion. Eight of China’s important visual artists were united with eight international musicians to express the connection of all people. The result of the artistic bridging of cultures was the WE8 series of eight stylized, aluminum bottle designs. For each bottle design, a talented musical artist composed a companion song. The Coca-Cola WE8 bottles were first released across the globe for the Beijing Summer Olympic Games.
